Stone Circle School

"Education is not the filling of a bucket. It is the lighting of a fire." —William Butler Yeats

Beginning in 2008, Stone Circle School has formally merged with the Ithaca Waldorf Initiative, creating the Ithaca Children's School, an organization that combines the best of both former organizations. The organization now offers Waldorf-inspired programs for ages birth through sixth grade, and the elementary school program remains at what is now called "the Stone Circle Campus," housed in several buildings on the Foundation of Light grounds in the Ellis Hollow neighborhood—including the old one-room schoolhouse that had housed Stone Circle School's elementary grades previously.

You can learn more at the Ithaca Children's School Web site, which has details on Parent-Child classes for infants and young children, the pre-school/Kindergarten offerings, the elementary school, special events for all, lectures, festivals, and adult education.

"Rather than learning about details in a disconnected, out-of-context manner, the kids learn within a meaningful context so that they truly understand and remember what they learn." —Stone Circle parent
